The Himalayan Guides has crafted this adventurous and enchanting journey to the most demanded Everest Base Camp of 14 days. This trek is a thrilling journey towards the Khumbu region for almost two weeks. The trek starts with the most enchanting and rewarding STOL flight from Kathmandu to Lukla.

The trail will start once we touch down in Lukla. The trail will wind through the lush forests and terraced fields to Phakding with a slim descent from Lukla. Then we will lead towards Namche Bazar alongside the riverbeds of Dudh Koshi. We have scheduled an acclimatization to provide a chance to adapt ourselves to the thinning air and explore the bustling vibrance of Namche Bazaar’s culture. We also have an optional hike to the Hotel Everest View on this day. The trail will wind us through the rhododendron forests to Tengboche, which is a historic monastery, and again we will have a short, steep descent to Dingboche. Dingboche is where we will spend our second acclimatization day. We will reach our major destination and the pinnacle attraction of this trek, Everest Base Camp, on the ninth day and spend some quality time immersing ourselves at the Base Camp.

Scenic Flight to Lukla

Our trek will begin with the thrilling and enchanting flight from Kathmandu or Manthali to Lukla. This short flight sets the tone for the exciting flight ahead with the panoramic views of the Himalayas. The small Tenzing-Hillary airport will welcome us with its open arms to start the trek, which will be a thrilling two-week trek to Everest Base Camp.

Namche Bazaar

Namche Bazaar is an enchanting capital dedicated to the Sherpa community. This is also the major acclimatization point of the trek. We will get the opportunity to explore the famous and historical Sherpa Museum with the extra optional hike towards the Hotel Everest View. The early morning hike to the Kala Patthar is our highest point of this trek. Day 1

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel (1,400m)

We will arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. Our representative staff will welcome you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. You will rest and refresh for a while. We will take you to the local market of Thamel to make last-minute preparations for the trek. You will get a briefing from the assigned guide for the thrilling two weeks of Himalayan Adventure. We rest well and get ready for the exciting two weeks ahead.
Day 2

Fly to Lukla from Kathmandu or drive to Manthali/Ramechhap & flight to Lukla (2,860m), then trek to Phakding (2,610m)

If the weather permits, we board an early morning flight to Lukla. This will be a thrilling half-hour flight above the snow-capped Himalayas. Take an aerial glance at the Himalayas beneath the flight. The trek will start from the town of Lukla, where we will meet our porters and follow the trail alongside the Dudh Koshi river. Overnight will be in Phakding.
Day 3

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) from Phakding

We will have a trek to Namche Bazaar starting from Phakding. This will be a journey of about 6 hours. The trail will cross the bustling, lush landscapes and suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi river. We will traverse with the enchanting views of Thamserku and a few opening glimpses of Everest. Overnight will be spent in a guesthouse in Namche Bazaar
Day 4

Acclimatization Day at Namche. Hike to Hotel Everest View and back.

We have scheduled a rest day today. This rest day allows us to adapt to the lower oxygen levels and adjust to the higher altitude. Today, we will explore the historically and culturally rich town of Namche Bazaar with the opening panoramic views of the Himalayan grandeur. We can also have an optional hike towards the Hotel Everest View and visit the local museum named “Sherpa Museum”. Overnight in Namche
Day 5

Trek to Tengboche (3,860m) from Namche Bazaar

We will have an enchanting descent and ascent of about 6 hours today till we reach Tengboche. Tengboche is a culturally rich village with the iconic Tengboche Monastery being established there, which is the Sherpas’ spiritual center. This serene setting is circled by the views of Everest, Thamserku, and Ama Dablam on the backdrop. We will visit and enlarge our experience in cultural immersion and stay in a teahouse for an overnight stay.
Day 6

Trek to Dingboche (4,410m) from Tengboche

We will first descend through the forests of Deboche and cross Imja Khola to start the trail today. We will have a gradual ascent past Pangboche Village. Today, we will be offered the most enchanting and breathtaking views of Ama Dablam and alpine meadows. The village of Dingboche is a charming Sherpa Village that sits in a wide valley. We will be spending our overnight in this village
Day 7

Acclimatization Day. Hike to Nangkartsang Peak (5,083m) and back.

We have a rest day to adapt more with the higher altitude today. We will have a short, steep hike towards the nearby Nangkartsang Peak, which stands tall at 5083m. This is rather a challenging climb, but is rewarded with the mind-blowing views of the nearby mountains like Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Manaslu. This ascent will aid us with the acclimatization that reduces the risks of altitude sickness.
Day 8

Trek to Lobuche (4,940m) from Dingboche

Today, we will have a short day of trek with just 4-5 hours. Along the journey, glacial moraine will be traversed. We will also pass through the stunning views of Pumori and Nuptse. We will pay homage to the passed expeditors who lost their lives while climbing the Everest. We will reach Dingboche and prepare for the Everest Base Camp hike tomorrow

Day 10

Morning Hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m) and then descend to Pheriche (4,240m)

Early morning hike to Kala Patthar awaits. This will be the highest point we will step to during the trek. The Kala Patthar viewpoint provides us with a perfectly picturesque view of the peaks like Everest, Changtse, and Nuptse. We will get back to Gorak Shep, have breakfast, and start descending. Overnight in Pheriche.
Day 11

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) from Pheriche

A long day of descent is today. We will have a walk of about 6-7 hours in order to make it back towards the bustling town of Namche Bazaar. We will pass the alpine meadows to rhododendron forests along the Dudh Koshi river. The trail will get easier as the air starts to thicken. The atmosphere feels warm. Overnight is to be spent in Namche Bazaar.
Day 12

Trek to Lukla (2,860m) from Namche Bazaar

This descending and ascending path from Namche to Lukla takes about 7 hours to complete. The trail will follow the riverbed of the Dudh Koshi River. The descent will feel a lot easier with the lush forests and warm air. While we arrive in Lukla, we mark the end of our walking section to the grand trek to the Everest Base Camp. We will spend our night in Lukla.
Day 13

Flight back to Kathmandu or Manthali/Ramechhap from Lukla and same-day drive to Kathmandu (1,400m)

This is our last day of the trek as we board our flight towards Kathmandu or Manthali, depending on the weather. The retraces of magnificent views of the mountains will follow us again for the last time. Only if the weather becomes friendly will we get back to Kathmandu and enjoy the urban amenities. We will have a celebration dinner tonight in Kathmandu, sharing our experience and the journey.
Day 14

Transfer to the International Airport for your Final Departure

Depending on our flight schedule, we will stroll around Kathmandu city to buy some souvenirs after the morning breakfast. Reflecting on our amazing journey to the Everest Base Camp, we will carry the memories of the Himalayan peaks, Sherpa culture, and personal achievement. We hope to see you again in Nepal soon. What type of food is available during the Everest Base Camp trek?

During the trail, the teahouses offer basic yet hearty and nutritious meals like Dal bhat, soups, pasta, and pancakes. These food items are ideal for high-altitude trekking like that of Everest Base Camp. We recommend that you bring the energy bars and other nutrition-rich snacks.

 

 What are the accommodations like on the Everest Base Camp trek?

The trails provide twin-shared bedrooms and shared bathrooms. The hot shower might only be limited in the lowerlands. Highlands have the basic setting and amenities. Sleeping bags are recommended for the warm nights.

 

How are sanitation and hygiene facilities during the trek?

Everest Base Camp trek’s sanitation facilities are basic, with shared squat or pit-style toilets in the higher lands. Namche and Lukla may provide western-style toilets. Washing soaps are widely available to wash hands, but they are also used by many others. We recommend that you bring hand sanitizer, wet wipes, and toilet paper during the trek.

 How difficult is the Everest Base Camp route?

The 14-day route to Everest Base Camp is considerably challenging. Trekkers are advised to have physical exercises and practice high-altitude hikes if possible. The risks of altitude sickness are probable; that's why we have scheduled two days for acclimating to the higher altitude.

How do I prevent altitude sickness on this trek?

Headaches and nausea are the common beginner symptoms of Altitude Sickness. Those symptoms can easily be recognised and reduced by hydrating and resting enough. Immediate descent is necessary if the condition worsens.

What permits are required for the trek?

We need two major permits for the completion of this trek: The Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit and the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Entry Permit. Both permits will be obtained by the Himalayan Guides for your convenience.
